The Registrar's department has a very important role in the Administration of the Papua New Guinea University of Technology. The department has several sections that have different functions and objectives in meeting the University's requirements.
The sections included in the department are the Human Resource division (HR), Employee Relations, the Council office, the Academic & Student Administration and the printing sections.

HUMAN RESOURCE DIVISION
This division under the Registrar Department is responsible for all Staffing matters. From Recruitment to maintenance of staff and then Termination. During the duration of employment staff who are on contract for three years are required to complete contract renewal form if they want to continue for another term. As well as this while being a staff, one can apply for promotion to another grade up the ranks. These are basically what is done in the Human Resources Division to maintain staff commitment to their work while in employment. Separation/Termination of staff is dealt with by the Personnel Administration Section below. Finally the division supports the University with submission through recruitment, rewarding staff and exit.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS OFFICE
This office deals with staff grievances and discipline. In the event that staff is not aggrieve by some issues in the University. Maintains and improves relations between the University Management and then University employees through:
- Work cooperatively
- Resolve issues early
- Seek to prevent all differences arising and resolve them
- Make recommendations and take decisions as appropriate on relevant issues.
The Section fulfils above through Investigation, consultations, negotiation and Communication.

The Council Office is responsible for all matters regarding Council, which is the Governing Body of the University.
The principle role of the Council Secretariat is to service the University Council and committees of the Council and other related duties to the main functions.
The main objective of the Council Secretariat is to ensure that most effective and efficient servicing is provided to the Council and its committees so that they can make the best possible decisions in a free environment for the best interest of PNG University of Technology.

ACADEMIC AND STUDENT ADMINISTRATION
The main function of the Academic & Student Administration is to take care of various activities related to the students of the University, mainly, admissions, scholarships, examinations and student reports.
The main objective of the section is to service the students according to the main functions mentioned, example, for admissions, making sure that the correct number of students are admitted into the University, scholarships are given to students concerned, etc.
Unitech Printing Services is a well-established arm of the University. It has all the machines it needs in a printing oriented environment. We have machines that do Off-Set Printings and Copy Printings. These include all other necessary machines that aid which are needed for printing firm operations.
Unitech Printing is well established as the name depicts. It is a Printing Section of the University that deals specifically with printing matters.
