Message from the Chancellor to the 2018 Graduands

Ms Jean Kekedo - Chancellor
It gives me great pleasure to witness the successful culmination of efforts put together by the management, staff and the graduating class towards this graduation day.
It is a result of hard work by all, in ensuring that the graduates are well trained and prepared for the challenging world out there. The theme of 2018 Graduation Ceremony “Applying Transformative Technology towards Responsible and Sustainable Development” leaves a lot of challenge for the graduands. The theme is fitting for this occasion but is also a theme that is core to the existence of Unitech. During the past decades, higher education in Papua New Guinea is affected by the lack of adequate financial support to sustain continuous improvement and increased enrolment of students to each degree programs. However, as an educational institution, Unitech will continue to play a central role in this knowledge led economy.
I wish all the graduands a prosperous life in your future endeavours. I acknowledge all our staff and parents of those who are graduating today for their time, commitment and resources in educating the next generation of Papua New Guineans.
Many of those who are graduating today might be the first from their village or tribe while some might be a second or third generation educated Papua New Guineans.
The path that each graduand will take from now onwards will be a challenging one but your skills, innovation and creativity will lead you on to future successes.
I implore all graduates to uphold values of honesty, integrity and accountability in your professional development. Hold dear to you, the family values and be focussed on your work, contributing effectively to nation building and becoming good citizens of our beautiful nation Papua New Guinea.
