PNGUoT attends Jiwaka Grade 12 Career Expo

Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) attended the Jiwaka Career Expo at Minj Secondary School from the 12th – 13th of September.
The Career Expo was organized by the Jiwaka Provincial Education Office for institutions to market programs that are offered and the processes of applying to the programs they offer.
The expo saw eight (8) Secondary schools and three permitted schools with a total of 1700- 1900 students in two days. Those schools are; Minj Secondary, Jiwaka Open Learning Institute, Kudjip Secondary, Fr. Peter Secondary, Waghi Valley Secondary, Banz Lutheran Secondary, Nondugl Secondary, Jimi Secondary, and Anglimp Secondary.
Jiwaka Provincial Guidance Officer, Mr. John Kui, applauded the attendance of the institutions that were invited.
“We are so thankful for the institutions who were here upon invitations from Jiwaka’s Provincial Education Office.”
Students expressed excitement for the expo and thanked PNGUoT for being present and speaking to them.
“We are happy that PNGUoT was here on the ground to give clear directives to us to apply for their programs which most of us have always dreamed of going to school there”.
Mr. Kui highlighted the need for these expos to be carried out in the coming years as it is an investment in the growth of education in the province.
“We were proud to arrange and bring in more than a thousand students from different parts of Jiwaka to meet with representatives from the institutions of their choice”.
He also stated that the provincial education offices can organize their grade 12 career expos and send invitations for these institutions to attend.
He went on to acknowledge the expo’s committee and people who have worked tirelessly to make the Jiwaka Grade 12s Career Expo a success.
