PNGUOT CAREER FAIR CONTINUES TO PROVIDE NETWORKING AVENUE

More than 20 companies had the opportunity to meet with students at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology’s (PNGUoT) annual Career Fair, held on the 30th and 31st of August.
The theme, “Fostering effective partnerships for Career Development” highlighted the university’s commitment in partnering with various industries, to improve the quality of graduates, and to create an avenue for students to meet with potential employers.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ora Renagi expressed his delight to the industry representatives present, saying the career fair allows students to interact with the industries to find out about the career pathways and opportunities available.
“The Council is very focused on delivering quality graduates from the university, and we want to continue to effectively partner to achieve focus areas.”
The two-day Career Fair program saw over a thousand students visiting the booths set-up by the respective sponsors and exhibitors, to learn more about their operations and career pathways.
Career talk sessions were given by the sponsors, scheduled over the two days.
While most of the industries present had participated in past Career Fair, some notable organisations that participated for the first time were the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA), National Department of Treasury, and also PNGUoT’s National Food Testing and Monitoring Centre.
Chairman of the Career Fair Organising committee, Dr Patrick Michael expressed his gratitude to the companies, saying the industries continue to inspire students who are future leaders of the industries.
The PNGUoT Career Fair was sponsored by a total of 14 companies. The include;
Gold sponsors; Datec Learning Centres, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL), Ok Tedi Mining Limited, and National Fisheries Authority.
Silver Sponsors; Santos, Mineral Resources Authority (MRA), Wafi Golpu Joint Venture, Huawei Technologies, New Britain Palm Oil Limited, and Ramu Nico Management (MCC).
Bronze sponsors; Coca-cola Europacific Partners, Paradise Foods Limited, Morobe Consolidated Goldfields Limited, NFTMC, and National Department of Treasury.
Exhibitors included New Porgera LTD, National Airports Corporation (NAC), Quest Drilling Exploration (QED), Goodman Fielders International (GFI), and Steamships Trading.
