The School of Applied Physics signed an MoU with Geoscience Australia fascilitated by Dr. Hadi Ghasemi (Senior Seismologist, Geoscience Australia) and Rabaul Volcanic Observatory (RVO) in 2021. The MoU saw the installation of the now fully commissioned Seismic Station in 2023.
The Seismic Station is now monitoring and recording real-time data of Seismic activities in Lae and surrounding centers. It will also be fully utilised in academic research and student projects if and when it relates to Geophysical Studies.
