Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding
The School of Forestry in the Faculty of Natural Resources has just embarked on a milestone achievement in the historic signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUT) and the Papua New Guinea Forest Industries Association (FIA Inc.) on Friday, 30th August 2024.
The MoU is very important because it outlines the activities that the two organizations will undertake jointly in terms of providing professional work experience for its third and fourth-year students and also for the well-experienced employees in the industry to upgrade their skills and knowledge. It will also add value to further research collaboration between the two organizations.
Celebrating Success: Students from Forestry Class Recieves Certificates of Log Scaling Training Course conducted by certified trainier Mr Louis Veisami ,12th July 2024.
The Log Scaling Training Course (LSTC) is a competent-based training about the Brereton log scaling method, rules, conditions and volume calculation standardized and sanctioned by the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority (PNGFA). This method is applied by timber permits and timber authority holders conducting logging operations in the natural forests of Papua New Guinea (PNG). The LSTC covered the standard operating procedures for scaling logs and reporting. The LSTC included theoretical instructions, field training and an examination and those who passed were awarded a certificate of log scaling.
The combine School of Forestry Academic Staff meeting# 01-2024 held on 13th -14th June 2024.
The combine School of Forestry (Taraka, Bulolo University College and Timber & Forestry Training College) academic staff meeting for semester 1 2024 was held at the Taraka Campus.
The meeting between SOF Academic staff and PNG Timber Industry Association President MR. Kanawi Pouru, OL, held on 3rd July 2024.
The meeting was purposely held to explore the collarboration between School of Forestry and the PNG Timber and Industry in Training, Education and Research.
