Our Postgraduate Student's Testimonials
We have two (2) exceptional Queen Elizabeth CommonWealth (QECS) scholars who have recently completed their MSc in Agriculture. Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome another QECS scholar into our thriving academic community in 2025.
My journey to the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Unitech) as an International Student was filled with mixed feelings. The thought of embarking on such an incredible journey, perhaps, one of the farthest journeys, away from families, friends, and the comforts of home, haunted me like a ghost. But I am glad I made the right choice to come to Unitech. Graduating from this great citadel of learning was truly a milestone in my life.
My time at the university allowed me to expand my horizons and acquire knowledge and skills that have not only shaped my academic path but also prepared me for the challenges of the real world. The dedication of the faculty and non-faculty staff, coupled with the comprehensive curriculum, played a pivotal role in shaping my personal and professional paths. Also, the university's collaboration with industries and other institutions such as NARI, gave me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience. My engagement with NARI was quite rewarding, as it gave me exposure to different regions of the country where I had amazing interactions with farmers and locals. The adventure also exposed me to the cultural heritage of the good people of PNG, contrary to the false narrative peddled on the internet about the people of PNG. I had an unforgettable hospitality treat and enjoyed the great friendliness and companionship of the locals.
Thank you, Unitech, for fostering an environment of learning, growth, and camaraderie. I am proud to be an alumna and will always carry the lessons and memories with me as I venture into the next phase of my life.

MSc, Agriculture
It has been a wonderful experience undertaking a Master of Science in Agriculture at the Pacific's most prestigious Papua New Guinea University of Technology. Having been admitted in 2022 under the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship. I have ever since found a home, family, and a citadel to garner knowledge and worthwhile skills I doubted I would have found elsewhere if not at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology.
The university has instilled in me a great gesture to forever treasure, with its qualified faculty members and world-class academic curriculum, coupled with the global standard research facilities at the university.
Reminiscing on the memories still gives me goosebumps, of how amazing these people of many languages, tribes, and clans could unitedly uphold the country together, which has also reflected on the diversity conquest amongst the enthusiastic academic students of the ever-bobbling Taraka campus.
I am glad that my path crossed this citadel of knowledge, mi feelim hamamas olgeta time bai mi sanap lo ceremonial ground lukim tok blo Chief Kondom Agaundo em tok "tomorrow my sons and daughters will come" mi tintin aiyo, afrika mangi stap, mi com lo ples.
On this note, I would gladly say that PNG University of Technology surpassed my expectations and gave me unending hope for a greater future, with a bidding farewell that indeed a global technocrat has been made.
Mi tok tenku tru lo u olgeta.
Long live Unitech,
Long live Papua New Guinea.

MSc, Agriculture
At Musson Group Jamaica Limited, as Project Manager, I specialized in developing project scope, budgeting, contracts administration, evaluating the technical soundness of projects, risk management, quality control of technical aspects of the building product development, safety and field instructions. We constantly go above and beyond with our projects to bring dreams to a reality. Let's face it, who wouldn't be excited to work in this environment to make fun of what many persons even those in the field, find very challenging. I owe it to PNGUoT to have unreservedly exposed me to a very high level of professional Civil Engineering practice that was sufficient to make me the expert I am today.
It is also worthwhile to note that my qualification garnered from PNGUoT, has propelled me to become eligible to sit and subsequently pass my Engineering Board exams, this qualifies me as a Registered Professional Engineer; eligible to practice Civil Engineering anywhere in the Caribbean.
The technical educational modules at PNGUoT is at par with that of any elite University in a first world country. That is evidenced by my current and past experiences as I come across peers who studied at first world universities and that did not make them any more equipped with the knowledge and expertise than I am.
Thank you PNGUoT.

MPhil in Civil Engineering
Class of 2017
The PNGUoT postgraduate courses are student centered, demanding learners to be independent and innovative researchers who would yield outcomes to the professional world. PNGUoT is an amazing centre of learning. The campus is small yet has everything that was needed to complete my studies. Apart from my study, I attended seminars, workshop and conference that helped grow my academic and professional growth.
Therefore, I would recommend this multicultural university to other international students to come and experience the natural environment of PNGUoT.

Masters of Communication and Development Studies
I personally appreciate the opportunity that I was given to study at the university even through difficult circumstances, but I can say that the experience was worth it. It’s all about the quality of education that matters.

I decided to pursue my Postgraduate Study in the field of Mechanical Engineering at the PNGUoT for three simple reasons; the expertise of the staff, the prestige of the University within the Pacific Island countries and to learn about the diverse culture of PNG.
While at PNGUoT, I conducted the research on designing an optimized alluvial gold suction dredge machine suitable and affordable for rural alluvial gold miner in PNG and the South Pacific Island nations. I presented my research at postgraduate seminar at PNGUoT with an excellent feedback and comments from the audience.
One of the exciting thing that I learned at PNGUoT is cooperation developed among postgraduate community. Friendships are shown both inside and outside of classrooms and the desire for success becomes the fundamental aspect both for national and international students.
Apart from research and classroom work , I have given the privilege to travel to other parts of the country with fellow international students and local staffs. We’ve travelled to the highlands of PNG, including Goroka, Simbu and Mount Hagen. I have observed that this wonderful country is truly blessed with diverse culture and friendly people with more than 800 different dialects. I will always be appreciative of my days and wonderful opportunities I had at PNGUoT.
