Papua New Guinea University of Technology’s Bulolo University College (BUC) is preparing for its second graduation tomorrow!

This was reintroduced last year after the last graduation was held in 1995 at the former Forestry College before it was merged with PNGUoT.

BUC is an affiliated campus of PNGUoT located  in the Bulolo District 306.2km from Lae.

BUC was established in 1962 as the Forestry College and has trained and graduated students in forestry related Diploma courses. These students can now further study for Forestry related degrees.

BUC’s Diploma of Forestry Management is the feeder to PNGUoT School of Forestry’s Bachelor of Forestry Management at the Taraka campus.

BUC’s campus director, Mr. Olo Gebia expressed joy and a feeling of pride to be hosting the second campus graduation.
“We are happy to witness this graduation and to actually see our students graduate on the campus they’ve been on”.

He said, graduating students on campus too brings about the attention to what this campus can offer through programs that are offered and as an affiliated campus  to PNGUoT.

“The programs offered here are for  Forest Management Resources, which is a demand for the Forestry sector of PNG. These students will be in a better position to manage the resources of the forest.”

Mr. Gebia went on to highlighting the education sector of Bulolo District.
“The  education level here in Bulolo District, compared to other districts of Morobe, have a complete set of education levels : elementary schools, primary and secondary, a tertiary run campus.”

“Seeing the University graduating degree programs in the coming years here will be like a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of campus facility upgrades that will need to  be prioritized in the coming years.”
