The Papua New Guinea University of Technology are inviting all suitably qualified candidates for the position within the University:

Primary Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Registrar – Human Resource, the successful candidate is accountable to manage recruitment of all staff both citizen and non-citizen and ensure that effective recruitment processes are followed and aligned to achieving the University’s Strategic Plan.

The role will have the following responsibilities:

    • Manage the daily flow of Recruitment Process of the University & its affiliated colleges
    • Stay up to date on Labour Legislations and inform recruitment team and HoDs about changes in regulations
    • Build PNG University of Technology professional network through relationships with HR Professionals, colleagues with other partners
    • Create, agree and implement strategies to increase the coverage of quality candidate attractions on a global scale establishing PNG University of Technology as an employer of choice.
    • Collaborate with Career Development, Employee Relations & OHSE, Personal to ensure that the daily function of University HR Department is flowing smoothly
    • Develop the sectional annual workplan using balance scorecard to align with the University strategic plan based on the Executive Director’s overall workplan for the HR Department.
    • Liaise with Career Development office, University Departments and facilitate new staff inductions for both citizens and non-citizens for the University
    • Assist in developing and reviewing HR Policies and Procedures of the University and make recommendation
    • Manage facilitation of Work Permit/visa and Travel of new Non-Citizen Employees in constant liaison with the Immigrations and Citizenship Authority.
    • Place key documents on the Intranet, including recruitment policies and relevant recruitment form.
    • Recommend improvements to current recruitment processes to ensure streamlined, cost-effective services are being provided for hiring university staff (Academic & Administration)
    • Consult Senior Assistant Registrar – Personal on the university establishment and provide advice to heads of departments and management on approved/budgeted positions.
    • Provide fortnightly / monthly reports to the Deputy Registrar-HR

Qualification & Experience

Job requirements:

  • The successful candidate should possess a Degree in Human Resources Management/Psychology or Business Management from a recognized institution.
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exposure to iChris and related HRIS
  • Matured with strong and proven leadership skills
  • Flexible and able to work extended hours
  • Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Of Sober habits

The successful candidate must be a team player, be highly motivated and able to develop and maintain a good relationship with staff and clients at all levels and willing to learn from others and be able to adopt best practices.

Conditions of Service

  • Senior Assistant Registrar (I/II):  K51,978 – K72,673 per annum

  • Domestic Market Allowance:   K8,681 – K16,026 per annum          

(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
