The students in a small but significant presentation yesterday donated cartons of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Unitech Security Force to assist them in their daily operations in manning the university gates.

The students were able to purchase the PPEs from the student component of the K25, 000 funding given to them by the MP for Sinasina-Yonggomugl, Hon Kerenga Kua to utilize during the SOE lockdown last month.

The Sinasina-Yonggomugl Students, through their student leaders emphasized that this donation was an initiative of the students to assist the university particularly the security officers who were the first point of contact into the university.

Upon receiving the donation, Chief Security Officer Mr Alois Nomenda commended the students for the great initiative and stated that the PPEs will enable him to ensure the safety of his officers are upheld and that of everyone within the campus.

The students thanked Pro VC Admin Professor Kaul Gena for facilitating the process and ensuring their donation was received by the security Office.

Professor Gena on behalf of the University thanked the students for the timely donation and stated that despite the current statistics on the COVID 19 in PNG, safety is still paramount during this period of uncertainty.
